2 Corinthians 5:4

2 Corinthians 5:4

“For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.” – 2 Corinthians 5:4

As I glanced at the photo featuring me and a few Noah’s Ark kids it became very obvious to me… I’m getting old!!! The creases and wrinkles in my face were undeniable. (Somehow those aren’t so obvious to me in the mirror each day. I don’t have my glasses on when I wash my face or put on make-up!) And then there was that utterly random “rogue white hair” that I noticed one day! It just suddenly appeared out of nowhere on my forehead!!! Oooooph!

The aches and pains of joints and muscles come more easily now. Yes, this “tent” of a body that God has
temporarily given me is wearing! And not surprising! God has not intended this mortal to last forever.

As the years have sped by, each seemingly faster than the one before, I admit that I get excited. For with each passing day, that means I am one day closer to seeing Jesus and shedding this “naked” tent of a body! When that day arrives, I will truly experience life and exchange all the aches, pains, health limitations, memory lapses, wrinkles, and yes, rogue white hairs for a perfect heavenly dwelling that will house me joyfully for all eternity. Amen, Come Lord Jesus!!
