God is With You

God is With You

Joshua 1:9

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

I have this verse bookmarked on my phone, and I go to it a lot for encouragement and a reminder that the Lord is with me, that I am not alone. A while ago I was listening to a song with a similar message, and it struck me in a new way that night. God is the only one who has been there with me through everything I have ever experienced. Not my parents, not my husband, just God and God alone, from my first day on this earth until now.

I felt so loved and valued by my Maker as I was realizing this simple truth in a deeper way. I also felt more peace about the future. He has been there through it all so far, and is promising to stick with me through the rest of my life (Hebrews 13:5).

Now, as our family is looking toward going on a church plant, I know I will need to rely on God’s promises again. This new endeavor is very exciting to me, but also terrifying and sad! Saying goodbye to our church family here is going to be extremely difficult- for me, for Paul, and for my kids. We have so many treasured relationships here; you are a wonderful body to be a part of! And so as I look down the road of leaving and starting something new, the most important thing to remember is that God wants to come with me and be involved in all the decisions and emotions that go along with it. And I can find comfort in that.
