  <title>How Could God Allow</title>
  <description>How could a good God allow…

Fill in the blank. The question hangs in the air. I have an elderly aunt who will soon pass from this life who refuses to consider her need of reconciliation with God. Her standard line is “If there is a God, how could He allow little children to suffer? How could He allow tsunamis, famine, hurricanes? If THAT’S the kind of God He is I want nothing to do with Him.”

  <title>Looking For Affirmation</title>
<description>Sometimes it seems that we all walk around wearing tee shirts that say

“Affirm me, Please, Affirm me”.

We are so hungry for affirmation from one another. I wear my tee shirt too -on most days. We find ourselves needing to tell people what we have done or experienced, purchased or seen. “Aren’t I special? Don’t you just wish that you were me?” The question is there – between the lines, begging to be asked. The problem is, we all want to receive affirmation but we are very stingy when it comes to giving it so while that poor person is talking AT me telling me how wonderful they are, I find myself thinking about what story I am going to counteract with. And so the ball bounces back and forth from one court to the other, never really landing for long. And so we wander through life, constantly searching for the love and affirmation that we hunger for.

  <title>Tight Rope Walking</title>
<description>I have sin in my life and I HATE it. I try to fight it but fail repeatedly. I resolve to do better and then fall flat on my face over and over again. It is so discouraging. In my study of God’s word I have searched for solutions to this repeated failure. I have read the apostle Paul’s account of this same thing. “I do the very thing I hate,” he says. “Who will set me free from this body of death?” and then he answers his own question “Christ”. Thank God for Christ! (Romans 8). But I didn’t understand. I have a relationship with Christ and He has not set me free from this sin.</description>
