Come and participate in a project to help families with troubled children.  Join us Saturday morning, February 13, at 9 am in the hospitality room. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. No sewing experience is necessary!

A weighted blanket party is a party where weighted blankets are made for special needs children.  The Share the Weight organization is a non-profit charity out of Ottumwa, IA. They ship these blankets worldwide to families free of charge. This is the a huge blessing to the families since these therapy blankets can cost $100 or more.  (Weighted blankets are used as therapies for Autistic and children with various sensory/anxiety disorders.)

For more information on The Share the Weight organization, go to or facebook at

Marcie Prose, with Share the Weight, will demonstrate how to make weighted blankets, which bring comfort to children with autism or various sensory or anxiety disorders.

Blankets constructed that morning will be donated to The Share the Weight organization to distribute to special needs children.

To sign up, send an e-mail to Jennifer Thiel. Let her know also if you can bring a sewing machine. We are also hoping that people will bring fabric, thread, masking tape, hem tape and other supplies to donate to the cause!
