If you are an international and you are looking for a place to belong while you are in Ames, check out iFam – the International Family. iFam is a warm, supportive family of Americans, international students, and international scholars and their families. Here, you can find good friends, practice your English, receive help with your life in America, have fun, and learn about the spiritual side of life.
iFam has four regular activities going on that you can be a part of:
- Saturday night discussion - international students and scholars meet every Saturday night at 7:00 pm at Stonebrook to take part in discussion groups, build friendships, and have fun.
- Special events and holidays are celebrated throughout the year. We host dinners and activities to welcome new students to Ames, and to celebrate occasions like Spring Festival, Easter, Fall Festival, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and others. Get on our Email list, and you will always be invited.
- English Conversation Class is held every Thursday night, 7:00-9:00 pm, in Room 11, Kildee Hall, Iowa State University. Feel free to bring homework/materials you need help with, or just come and the teachers there will help you. The first hour is one-on-one English help and the second hour is in a large group setting.
- The Little Family is a growing family of Christ-followers from all over the world. If you are a Christian looking for a close, committed community to be a part of, you are invited. Come and grow with us.
If the Stonebrook Church family can be of help to you, please feel free to contact us. We are available to help you with things like finding furniture, getting a driver's license and/or buying a car, dealing with health issues, improving your conversational English, moving things, working through difficult times in your life, or whatever your needs might be. We are here to serve.
