Our vision, simply stated, is to build a bridge to connect us to God. We all know God is out there, yet we also realize intrinsically that there is a gap between us and Him. How can we find Him? How can we connect with Him? We believe there is one and only one bridge that spans the gap between us and God: Jesus Christ. Jesus IS that bridge.
So our vision is to discover Christ and span that chasm between man and God. In essence, to cross the bridge.
As part of helping people bridge that gap, God has given mankind a plan and a purpose. At Stonebrook we summarize that plan with seven basic life-qualities, called Pillars, that support this bridge-building process. These seven Pillars are essentially seven core principles that we believe summarize what God calls us to in the New Testament. In a sense, these Pillars support this bridge, revealing God to man through Christ.
These Seven Pillars are as follows:
God calls us to love Him first and foremost, and to keep Him as our first love and passion. There is no one and nothing more worthy of our love and affections.
We are challenged by God to view life through His eyes, not through the world's eyes. In essence, we are to learn to think like God thinks as described in the Bible.
Our culture is starving for reality, not phoniness. A common accusation against Christians is one of hypocrisy. God calls us to live with no pretenses, nothing hidden. The real deal. Walking the talk.
Family life is crumbling all around us, but God has something better. He challenges us to let Him make a difference in the home. To have great marriages. To have confidence in our parenting, and to have a love that wins our kids' hearts.
We are not meant to live the Christian life by ourselves but are created for community. And that community is not only a group of friends, but a family of fellow-followers of Christ joined arm-in-arm with a devotion to one another like "blood family."
The social and economic needs in our culture are enormous, but we believe God has called the church, the people of God, to meet those needs. While the government may play a role in helping others, God wants his people to be involved with a strong sense of responsibility.
Jesus Christ alone offers forgiveness of sins and is the only way to get right with God. This is like finding the cure for spiritual cancer, and is often referred to as "The Good News." God calls Christians to proclaim the Good News so that anyone anywhere can find freedom from the guilt that plagues our hearts before a holy God.
All of activities, groups and events at Stonebrook are designed to build these Pillars into our lives, not only fulfilling God's purposes for our own lives, but making Him more evident to a hurting world.
