Improving Communication – Note From A Pastor

Hi Stonebrook family!

As you may have heard, one of our primary focuses as an elder team this ministry year has been communication. To be honest, this is an area we have struggled with in years past. I believe God has been working in us recently to make us aware of the crucial necessity of over-communication.

As a member or regular attender of Stonebrook, you should never be left in the dark about what is going on, why things are going on, and how we think/feel about what is going on. And if you ever are, you shouldn’t ever be far away from answers to your questions, or channels to get your questions answered.  We have not done this in the past. We are looking forward to fixing this.

Further, with our church size, and with several distinct ministry targets (college students, international students, middle and high-school aged kids, young families, etc.) it can be difficult to know what is happening in the different corners of the church. When communication doesn’t happen, suspicion creeps in instead. Our desire is to have a free-as-possible flow of information about what is happening, when/where/how, and why, so that all can be encouraged by the many ways God is working in our church.

This newsletter is intended to be a tool to that end. I am looking forward to this next chapter of ministry in Stonebrook as we seek to push the gas pedal down a bit farther in our goal of seeing many hundreds of Ames-area residents become fully devoted followers of Christ, and many thousands more of them hear the Gospel message. All of that from a desire to Glorify our Lord Jesus.

I’m sure we will continue to fumble around a bit as we find our footing, and thank you for bearing with us, but by God’s grace, we are moving forward!  We have a great team in place, have seen the effect of improvements already made, and are encouraged and excited to continue.

May The Lord bless you and keep you,
