The Desires of Your Heart

The Desires of Your Heart

Psalm 37

“Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” – Psalm 37:4

A couple of months ago, I was debating if I should go to the Women’s Retreat this year. I love retreats and believe that it is a wonderful way to connect with God and other Godly women. I had great experiences with retreats in my earlier years of Christian life and miss those sweet moments. The challenge was that I had limited energy due to chronic sickness and did not know if I would be able to handle it physically.

When I heard registration was full, I thought that it might be God’s will for me not to attend this year’s retreat, though I still longed to be there for fellowship and learning deep in my heart.

But God had a different plan. On the Sunday before the retreat, I was told that there was a cancellation and I could even get a ride to the camp on Saturday morning. Things got even better at the retreat. My husband and children were planning to pick me up early from the retreat before I got too exhausted, but it just “happened” that some women needed to leave earlier and I was able to ride home with them.

The retreat was a blast. I treasure the stories about God’s work in others’ lives and appreciate the conversations I had. After the retreat, I felt so loved because God knew the desires of my heart. I saw that he used many loving women in this church to bless me through the retreat. Thank you, my sisters in Christ. I am very thankful for this body of Christ.
